Croydon-born stand-up comedian Lucy Porter is returning to an old Epsom haunt for two shows in 2018. She talks to Duncan Hall about coming home and her influences.
Are you looking forward returning to Epsom?
Last time I was in Epsom lots of friends of my mum and dad turned up without telling me. I’m really glad I didn’t know their friends from the church were there – I was uncensored and unrestrained and now they’ve seen me once they know what they are in for. I would go to the pantomimes and see my friends in bands at the Playhouse as a kid. Epsom was the scene of my teenage liaisons and poignant moments of romantic passion. Epsom has changed a lot – it feels a lot closer to London.
