The Science of Prayer – Prayer is the tuning of our mind, our personality, our understanding of ourselves to God or the divinity within us. It is the channel through which we understand God in His vast, eternal oneness. Our mind is like a receiving set or radio and we need to move the knob to the required radio station. A touch on the tuner will tune the radio station and you can hear the songs being transmitted. Similarly, the mind when tuned to God is capable of listening to His words.
The Power of Prayer – The National Institute of Health in UK, recently conducted a research study by carrying out 42 different types of tests on 1,26,000 persons. The research team arrived at the conclusion that “if you wish for a happy and healthy life, take benefits of visiting a spiritual center and pray”. The chief coordinator of the study, Dr. Maclog, is of the opinion, “spiritually inclined people find their way through even in the tensest of situations. They, of course, receive divine inspiration and guidance to take difficult circumstances and unhappiness. This is to help them lead a healthy life”. Physician and researcher Larrty Dossey, in his book, ‘Healing Words: The Power of Prayer and the Practice of Medicine’ scans over 300 studies that have been conducted worldwide including some at Harvard, Stanford and Princeton Universities. Most of these show that praying can have dramatic healing effects.
