The Ten (Stylish) Commandments
August Man SG|Issue 181
Fashion's most exciting (and in our opinion, highly important) trends destined to mark its mark for the season ahead, as Contributing Fashion Editor, Daryll Alexius Yeo weighs in. Early style adopters, here is your ultimate guide to 10 key trends to get a head start on, or better yet, add-to-cart before it blows up

The Ten (Stylish) Commandments

1 NOT YOUR EVERYDAY HATS On the runways, designers have explored head-turning toppers in the best way possible. From floral-appliquéd embellished beret styles at Dior Men, to Jil Sander's sculptural 'cones', and exaggerated newsboy caps at Kenzo. Whatever your vibe, this is your sign to get your head in the game in the unusual territory if you're looking for a new crowning glory.

2 "UGLY" SNEAKERS The rise of this certain sneaker style is due to a resurgence of the '90s-inspired aesthetic in general. This year, we've made way for the New Balance 990s, and most recently the Adidas Sambas to name a few. However, we're putting all bets on the Asics Gel sneakers, and touting them as the next It shoe. While these sneakers are inherently sporty, they ultimately live their best lives in non-athletic outfits. Style these shoes against a backdrop of neutral tailoring like a relaxed casual suit to really give them their moment. It's all about the contrast.

3 PATTERNED CO-ORDS More is more, and co-ords make it a breeze to pull off this season's prints in a riot of colors, surrealist works, and even childhood-inspired patterns. The appeal is simple. It takes less time to ponder what to style it with, and it always looks put together pun intended at any given time. Condolences to minimalists everywhere.
