Global domination must have been on superstar Rihanna’s mind, as Elyza Khamil discovered true inclusivity at the Fenty Beauty launch in NYC.
There have been some pretty huge launches in the beauty stratosphere, but none in recent history on the scale of Fenty Beauty by Rihanna. When #TeamCLEO received the official invite to fly to New York City for the launch that would be graced by Rihanna herself, I didn’t know what to expect. Was it going to be just colours? Textures? Was I going to meet Rihanna? (Yes I was!) Turned out, it was all that and more.
As a tan-skinned girl in Malaysia, it was always frustrating looking for products that would match my skin. So when Rihanna herself said, “The Fenty Face was created for women of all skin tones and all personalities,” in her welcome speech, it was clear that this was not just another celebrity-endorsed brand. With foundation colours that upped the ante and stood for inclusion, it was a move to tackle the void of representation in the beauty industry. And trust Queen RiRi to spearhead the movement.
