It really sucks to be the one trying to get over an ex during the month of love, right? Right. Well, they say embarking on an adventure will heal a broken heart. While these aren’t foolproof, these tips, that I’ve spent years curating, should help you decide how you can spend this Valentine's. I highly recommend that you take to the road!
1 Star gaze
Someone once told me that going to the beach alone and standing in front of the ocean made her realize how small her problems are when compared with the vast ocean. I tried this with star gazing. Imagine lying down on the grass, deeply relaxed, breathing in the fresh evening air and an entire universe of stars to look up at. In that moment, your problems truly disappear. You can try Saraii Village in Hambantota or Resort Back Beyond Dehigaha Ela in Sigiriya which are perfect spots for stargazing in Sri Lanka. Saraii Village has cute tree houses and Resort Back Beyond has huts which are made of clay and wood. Visiting these places is quite an experience and adding stargazing to the list will make it that much more memorable!
2 Island exploration
We are born islanders, there’s no doubt about it. But, have you set foot on an island that you can walk around and cover the entirety of it? Sri Lanka has a few smaller islands such as these that only require a simple boat ride to access. Pigeon Island and Bone Island are good picks to explore. The blue waters, fresh air and the rich greenery will leave you inspired and distracted from all the heartache.
3 Walk in the hills
