The idea that a modern day fairy tale can happen has always left me doubtful until I sat down to have a chat with the dazzling Tarja De Silva and her partner, in dancing and life, Alberto Ruiz.
“I spotted him during one of those Salsa dance classes in the UK. I had no idea that he would be the love of my life when he offered to teach me La Rueda,” shared Tarja. After they first met, the conversations slowly entered their Facebook messenger chats and they started hanging out consistently. She never thought anything would come out of it until Alberto asked her out. “It was a last minute thing, and I was going back to Sri Lanka so we decided to keep in touch and we did,” she added. During December that year, Alberto decided to drop by Sri Lanka to see his favourite Lankan girl. Correction, favourite girl in the world. This was more than a mere visit as that’s when Alberto asked Tarja again whether they can give this relationship a try.
“As days passed I thought to myself, ‘She has everything here, including her family and career, but I don’t have anything special in the UK except for my career,” Alberto shared. Then he took on a personal training course which would allow him to work anywhere and a few months down the line, he moved to Sri Lanka.
