Okay, so no prize for guessing what genre of photography would cover our tutorial for this issue. With the upcoming festival of lights and fireworks, Diwali is the best time to learn about Fireworks Photography.
Afterall, what could be the better way to commemorate those spectacular shows in the sky. Not only Diwali, you have got several other lined up reasons – Christmas, New Year eve and the wedding season – all giving you enough inspiration to try your hands in something entirely new and extremely creative. Do remember that it’s all about practice, experimentation, and the following mantra (say it with me!):
SHOOT – REVIEW – ADJUST – REPEAT
(We will get into this a little later)explore
PREFACE: FIREWORK PHOTOGRAPHY…
before we finally start off!
This one’s easy: Firework Photography is the extremely creative way to capture and preserve the memories of all those awesome firework shows in the sky (and on the floor too).
Let me clarify that there are many ways to accomplish fireworks photography and none are usually worse or better than others. The only thing that really matters as you head home after the show is whether you enjoyed the photographic process. What is important is if you are left with a photograph or photographs that you personally enjoy. Everything else is noise.
Also, know that night photography, on its own, is sometimes a very challenging genre of the art; add the dynamics of pyrotechnics and you have an even more demanding photographic adventure in front of you. Therefore, approach the mission with an open mind, bring inherent flexibility to your creative process. Do not let the technological demands overwhelm you, have fun, and, most importantly, enjoy the fireworks!
THE MANTRA ONCE AGAIN: SHOOT – REVIEW – ADJUST – REPEAT
