&nbsp;One thing that you&rsquo;ll immediately notice about the Spark is that it&rsquo;s... small. You wonder: How is this sorcery possible? Drones were fancy things, but they weren&rsquo;t supposed to be small&mdash;at least until the Spark arrived. It&rsquo;s palm-sized. It&rsquo;s like having a falcon that had gone under the shrink ray that you can command anytime to spy on whoever or whatever you fancy.&nbsp;It&rsquo;s somewhat revolutionary for the drone scene, although the act of miniaturization itself has long been a trend in gadgets. Phones got smaller. Computers got smaller. Music players got smaller. That&rsquo;s a tech thing: making everything smaller. For drones, there have been cheaper and smaller drones already. The Spark does have a heftier price tag, but it also has some pretty innovative tech inside its little body. First off, you get high-quality footage at about a fraction of the bag space you&rsquo;ll need to store such a gadget in. That means you&rsquo;ll be able to go to many more places without the hassle of having to lug around extra luggage. Which also means you&rsquo;ll be able to get more drone shots because the size encourages you to bring it everywhere with you.&nbsp;But more than being tiny, there are other impressive features working for it. It supports gesture controls, which means that you&rsquo;ll be able to direct it with just a wave of the hand and other specific gestures. It takes some time getting used to&mdash;but it&rsquo;s perfect for when you want the drone to take that aerial selfie or even to just simply follow you without having to lug around your phone or a remote. Speaking of phones, the DJI Spark plays nicely with your smartphone. Like many other DJI drones, the Spark&rsquo;s flight can be controlled through a smartphone app&mdash;along with other features found in its bigger brothers such as automated shots, subject tracking, forward obstacle avoidance, GPS stabilization, and a return-to-home feature. Just because it&rsquo;s small doesn&rsquo;t mean it&rsquo;s weak on the features side.&nbsp;These kinds of features are very important because these are exactly what many drone users have become quite used to&mdash;or if not that, something they truly want in their drones. If the Spark had to compromise, the novelty of its size will wear off so much faster. The robust set of features tells us that this drone is serious in spite of being so handy and tiny.&nbsp;What we don&rsquo;t like so much about the Spark is that its range is limited as well as the speed when using the smartphone to control it. It works but you&rsquo;re not really using the Spark to its full potential unless you have its dedicated remote control&ndash;which you&rsquo;ll have to buy at a price. That&rsquo;s the full DJI Spark experience&ndash;using it with the dedicated remote &ndash;so it&rsquo;s sad that you&rsquo;ll have to shell out extra to unlock its full potential. The battery lasts for about 12 minutes&ndash;a bummer but at this size, that can&rsquo;t be helped. Video is also just limited to 1080p, good enough for beginners and people who want to have a more portable drone handy. If you&rsquo;ve always wanted to try your hand at flying a drone, the DJI Spark is a perfect entry level drone that is still a little pricey compared to other models in the mini drone category. But it&rsquo;s incredible features more than make up for the price tag.
