It May Be the Most Basic Part of Your Skincare Regimen, but It’s Also the Most Significant. Sarah Hani Jamil Shares Why Your Cleansing Routine Needs an Upgrade Right Now.
From double-cleansing to using micellar water and multiple masks, the art of washing your face has evolved from the basic cleanse, pat and go routine. However, with so many options to pick from, there are many who have yet to really understand the significance of keeping your face clean, especially after a long day.
Case in point: my average Joe husband who asked me this when I told him I’d be travelling all the way to Salt Lake City, Utah in the USA for a cleansing brush. “A brush for your face? Why would you need to brush your face?!” he asked in surprise. I couldn’t believe he was so out-of-date with the beauty world, especially being married to a Beauty Editor. But then again, we hardly talk about work at home.
Now here’s the deal – your face is absolutely filthy. At any given time, there’s makeup, dead skin cells, excess sebum, pollution, toxins and God knows what else on it, especially if you live in a city where the air is hazardous for your skin. If not taken care of, all of these factors will cause irritation, break outs and in worst-case scenarios, bacterial infection – which isn’t a look you want to be flaunting around.
Today, with the rise of technology, we are presented with electronic devices to help remove harmful pollutant build-up even better than our hands could. And that’s really amazing if you think about it; when we cleanse manually, there are so many areas that we tend to miss out on such as the sides of the nose, under the lips and even our necks.
