Apom Creates More Than Just Wearable Antics; It Also Showcases Malaysians’ Whims At Best. Founder Kelvin Long Runs Nabila Azlan Through What The Brand Stands For.
FEMALE: How did the idea for APOM come about?
Kelvin: “I thought we could use some quality, eye-catching products to put our home ground in a more vibrant light – the kind that you wouldn’t be ashamed of wearing in public. My wife and I love bringing cool tees back whenever we travel overseas, and during one of our trips three years ago, it hit us that we didn’t have that sort of product in Malaysia yet. The closest would probably be those tacky, cliché souvenirs that you won’t even buy for your worst enemy, let alone put one on yourself. Seeing that it was time for a change, APOM became our way of showing people how Malaysia could really do better.”
F: APOM stands for A Piece Of Malaysia. Was it all planned out or simply a brilliant coincidence?
