Jen widerstrom is a brainy and brawny beauty who has taken the fitness industry by storm. At only 33 years old, she continues to kick ass on her tv show, the biggest loser, and whatever else she sets her mind to. We caught up with jen to discuss that, reebok, her diverse training, american gladiators, and her arnold obsession.
If The Rock and Oprah had a baby, it'd be Jen Widerstrom.
At 8 years old, she wasn't playing princess or obsessing over Barbie she was too busy decorating her room with posters of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin Levrone, and Shawn Ray. And when asked what she wanted to do when she grew up, her answer was resolute: Win seven Mr. 0's just like the Oak. Fast-forward 25 years, and the Biggest Loser trainer, American Gladiators alum, and face of women's fitness for Reebok is inspiring a younger generation, just like Arnold did. But despite her overnight success, Widerstrom remains the same driven tomboy on the inside. Albeit she gave up on the Sandows and is.11 chasing a new goal: change people's lives without changing herself.
Flex: What are you focusing on this year?
Jen Widerstrom: I've decided to hone in on three pillars of my year, which, of course, was to have a killer season on The Biggest Loser; to work on promoting my book; and to focus on my relation-ship with Reebok. I've taken on the role of the face of women's fitness for them.
What does that role entail?
It's my job to come in and really expand the audience that it carries right now. Basically, no one helps people take their first steps at fitness better than I do. That is my niche; that is my joy; that is my passion.
Which makes sense, considering your role on The Biggest Loser. Now do you make sure that contestants get the most out of the experience?
