Ruth Wood talks to an enterprising Dutch couple who created a spacious B&B among the vineyards of Lot
A delightful stroll through the vineyards near Else and Donald de Graaff’s B&B brings you in less than 10 minutes to a bridge across the River Lot. Here you might pause to admire the skyline of Luzech and the stately river beneath your feet before continuing into town, perhaps to dine at a restaurant over a bottle of the local black Cahors wine.
Keep walking straight on, however, and three minutes later you will find yourself crossing the River Lot again. That’s because the small town of Luzech sits within a pinch point of the meandering river, half an hour downstream from Cahors. No wonder the de Graaffs are so thrilled to have discovered this beautiful corner of France and to have built such a successful chambres-d’hôte here.
