Siba’s Stellar Rise
Siba’s rise up the TV ladder has been stellar. You’ll know her as the host of Mzansi Magic show Cooking With Siba, the star of Food Network successes Siba’s Table and Siba’s Adventures Johannesburg, the cohost of 2017 M-Net reality wedding show The Wedding Bash(ers) season 1, a judge on Chopped South Africa and now the star of her brand-new show, Siba’s Bites, featuring her own creation of easy-to-cook, African-inspired cuisines. Watch Siba’s Bites on Food Network (DStv channel 175) on Sundays at 7pm. Siba is also the author of sell-out cookery book Welcome To My Table.
Travels to the Middle East are a big part of Siba’s life (she is as much a TV celebrity there as she is in South Africa), but it’s time with her family at home in Cape Town that keeps her grounded.
Siba grew up in Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape and she credits her large family, her parents’ unfailing support and her strong faith as integral to ‘keeping it real’ despite the fame her career has brought her.
LOVE & MARRIAGE
‘Brian and I met when I was fresh out of matric. I come from a conservative family and am the last-born of six, so my plan after matric was to move to Joburg so I could have some freedom without any prying eyes. Before the start of my studies, I went to Cape Town to visit my sister and she had invited Brian to church with her.... Well, let’s just say I moved my study plans to Cape Town and here we are 17 years later!
‘Brian and I intentionally make time for each other by checking in as often as possible over a coffee or dinner and we try to limit talk about work.’'
