Staying In Is The New Going Out
Grazia|July 2018

We aren’t ones to be party-poopers but the allure of this new-fangled lifestyle comes with a fine set of millennial-friendly perks.

Staying In Is The New Going Out

Up until a few years ago we found ourselves sluggishly scrolling through the clamorous party posts that flooded us every Friday night ringing in a massive feeling of #FOMO. Call it the unsightly transitioning into adulthood but our feeds look a lot different on the weekends now. Ear-splitting clubbing scenes have been replaced by carefully curated images of crumpled bed sheets, coffee mugs and books. It’s true, we now look forward to afternoon siestas, prefer brunches over cocktails and nothing seems to beat the sheer joy of being bundled up in bed and watching the latest bingeworthy show that the Internet has to offer. The surge of this homebound behaviour comes with the rise of facilities and entertainment services that makes staying in so convenient. You no longer have to endure the misery of downloading your favourite show; you don’t have fret about reservations to dig into a meal from your go-to restaurant and you don’t need to elbow through a crowded store to solve a wardrobe crises. Call it the new-age quest for constant downtime, hibernating is no longer reserved for hung-over afternoons, it’s the new Saturday night plan. We chatted with some cool people who are transforming the way we watch and shop.
