Hitchhike with these ladies to get on a trip with minimal testosterone and maximal epic-ness. And it's playing on computer near you.
Boys may come and boys may go, but as we know all too well, our girlfriends are here forever. And although 50 per cent of the population might relate to that, we have an appallingly low ratio of homegrown entertainment content celebrating female friendships. Breaking through that, and doing it on four wheels, arrives The Trip, a web-first series on four girls taking a bachelorette road trip from New Delhi to Bangkok. We meet three of the four who are keeping us glued to the monitor.
LISA HAYDON
Where have I seen her: Haydon’s one of the most popular actors and models around. She shot into fame with her role in Queen, and more recently, we caught the leggy lass in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Here, she plays: Shonali/Shaz.
Tell me more: “Shonali is a musician, and is the least outspoken but most adventurous,” Haydon tells us. “She’s basically a cool chick, something I haven’t played before.”
Real-life relevance: “The only reference I had for a road trip was one I took with my family when I was 16. Travel, for me, means a certain kind of independence. It’s almost a way of exercising my right to freedom. When I was 18, I flew alone for the first time and I cannot ever forget that feeling. I went to the USA as an exchange student. My host family there took me travelling all over America as part of a fundraising drive. We’d raise money by making balloon animals or selling knick-knacks.”
