PARDON MY FRENCH
As a self-confessed, non-series-binge-watcher, I traded my sleep to complete the first Season of Emily in Paris, which made its debut in October of 2020. Perhaps it was the fact that it offered the ultimate escape of fantasy, fashion, and pretty locales while I lay recumbent on my bed during the lockdown. Or, maybe, it was the script that captured relationship angst and office politics with a delightful exaggeration, delectable outfits thrown in the mix. Either way, the American comedy-drama on Netflix caught global attention and has now delivered a much-anticipated Season 2.

In an exclusive conversation with Bazaar India, actor Lily Collins (the charming-yet awkward social media whiz, Emily Cooper, in the show) and Ashley Park (her best friend, Mindy Chen) team up to discuss friendship, style, and the importance of strong, inspiring women in becoming the best version of ourselves...

Harper’s Bazaar: The power of sisterhood is so evident throughout the show... Are you both friends off-screen as well?

Ashley Park: “Lily is one of my best friends! We met at the table read for Season 1, and that was it; the rest is history. We’re sisters for life.”

HB: What qualities do you most appreciate about each other, professionally and personally?

AP: “I think our show is a success because Lily is such an outstanding leader. There’s not a day when she doesn’t come prepared, alert, warm, and just very, very present with everybody on set. She makes the cast, the crew, and everybody feel like they’re important and valued.”
