14 Ways To Have Your Best Summer!

1. Sign up for a run

Add a new dimension to your run this summer by tackling an obstacle course while you complete a 5K or 10K route. Sign up for one of eight urban obstacle races across the UK until 20 August courtesy of Adrenaline Rush, which is back for a second year, and you’ll find 20 obstacles, including vault walls, barbed-wire crawls and ‘The Leap of faith’, a five-metre-high drop onto a stuntman airbag. Bring your strength, stamina and mental resolve, plus a change of clothes as things will get messy (there’s a gunge tank – need we say more?). You enter solo or as part of a team (prices vary) and 35 per cent of the entrance fee goes to Macmillan Cancer Support. To enter, visit theadrenalinerush.com.

2. Become an early bird

Tearing yourself away from the park/beer garden/back garden to hit the gym when everyone else is lapping up the sunshine can be tough, so work out at the start of the day instead. ‘Make the most of light mornings by setting your alarm half an hour early and doing a 20- to 30-minute outdoor workout. It’s really empowering and liberating being up and about before anyone else, plus it really sets you up for the day,’ says Sonique Smith, Clubbercise lead master trainer and international fitness presenter. If you’re not sure where to start, book a session with a local personal trainer who specialises in outdoor fitness. Download TruBe (trubeapp.com) to find PTs in your local area, see reviews from their clients and book.

3. Sightsee from your saddle
