The increasingly rampant cases of sexual assault and harassment against children drive home the fact that we need to remain vigilant at all times.
Sexual harassment remains one of the most critical problems our society faces – whether at the workplace or, even worse, on the home front. What’s even more tragic and shocking is when children are robbed of their childhood in the face of such unspeakable acts, as their innocence and trusting nature turn them into easy targets. The following are several stories shared by Twitter users who’ve gone through such ordeals.
FORCED TO PERFORM ORAL SEX
DIRA*, 25
Having babysat her cousins previously during weekends and school holidays, Dira had to stop when she started working. Her cousins were then sent to a professional babysitter.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly until one day, her uncle called her up out of the blue and asked if she knew of any lawyers who specialised in defamation cases. He refused to divulge what had happened and passed it off as asking on behalf of a friend. However, things took a turn for the worse when her uncle received an official letter from a lawyer.
It was then he confessed that two of her cousins, aged eight and six, had been molested and forced to perform oral sex on the babysitter’s younger brother. According to her cousins, it happened many times before their parents found out at the end of 2016.
