Eva Mendes may not be walking the red carpet at recent movie premieres, but the multi-dimensional mother of two girls and ambassador of Avon’s latest fragrance, Eve Duet, proves that when you prioritise what means most in your life, everything else falls right into place. By Eena Houzyama
Although it has been years since Eva Mendes appeared in a film or TV show, the Miami-born star has been keeping busy. Strong-minded and courageous since her early years, and with a background in marketing from California State University, it’s no wonder Eva started her own cosmetics line, and also a clothing collection with New York & Co.
“I’ve gotten to a place now that every day, I do something out of my comfort zone,” Eva shared during an exclusive interview with Amanda De Cadenet on her show The Conversation. She went on to explain that it really doesn’t matter what she does or how small it is, as challenging herself means she is growing as a person.
This determination and constant willingness to move beyond set boundaries paid off in Hollywood. She’s known for comedic roles in movies such as Hitch and The Other Guys, as well as the dramatic characters she portrayed in Training Day, We Own the Night and A Place Beyond the Pine.
Today, being a mother to four-year old Esmeralda Amada and two-year old Amada Lee has given Eva a new focus in life and shifted her priorities, but she is by no means away from the spotlight – having carved a name for herself as an amazing businesswoman and philanthropist.
On Embracing Motherhood
Eva has always been very private about her personal life, keeping both pregnancies under the radar until birth. In a 2014 interview with Ellen DeGeneres, she explained that because her kids would grow up under intense media scrutiny, both her and her long-time partner, Ryan Gosling, decided to protect their privacy as much as possible.
