A woman’s vagina should become as much a part of her unique identity as her smile and attention to her feminine hygiene is as important as her dental hygiene!
Many of us were raised by parents who didn’t talk about puberty or sex and left the ‘birds and the bees’ to books with cartoon sketches. As a result, there are many young adults out there who live in a sexually explicit world, but may have a sense of shame when it comes to their own bodies. We want to remind women that regardless of whom they are and what faith or culture they may observe, they are beautifully created to be life-giving forces of nature. Don’t be afraid to get to know your most intimate parts so that you are the first to know when something is not quite right down there.
The female ‘private parts’ consist of:
Vagina: common term given to the ‘private parts’ of a woman, but it actually refers to the narrow canal that joins the vaginal entrance to the opening of the womb.
Vulva: the outer part of the vagina, made up of the outer and inner lips and the clitoris.
Labia majora: the thick, fleshy outer genital lips.
Labia minora: the thin, inner genital lips.
Clitoris: small bud-like organ filled with nerve endings situated at the top of the labia minora.
