When it comes to solo trips or business travel, the one accessory that makes the journey easier, is the under-appreciated, good old backpack. These double strapped accessories were always way too functional to be considered fashionable, but the humble backpack has been transformed over the years. In recent years, we have seen the debut of backpacks on the runways of Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Dior, but it’s not just luxury backpacks that have been making a mark. There’s been a revival of the everyday pack too, with more people using one for their day-to-day duties. What’s leading to this fashion-approved bag trend?
For men working in corporate offices, a business attire is a must. From the black suit to the briefcase, everything has been the same forever. With changing times, it’s easy to incorporate backpacks, as they are a comfortable and effortless choice for the nine-to-five grind. While choosing a backpack for work, the right fabric, and a darker colour palette, is essential.
Celebrity stylist Khyati Busa explains how to style a backpack. “One can style it with a T-shirt, a pair of sneakers, and tailored or straight-legged trousers to give a more semi-casual look. It can also be paired as gym gear, with shorts, a T-shirt, and a pair of sneakers, or cool pair of sandals. For a more formal look, one can opt for a leather backpack to keep it strictly business, rather than opting for a briefcase.”
To make a statement piece of the accessory, she suggests, “Use a bright colour or a bold print with a minimal outfit, which will make the backpack really stand out. Also, using a bigger than the normal size, or a smaller than usual backpack will also make the accessory stand out on its own.”
