Huw Morgan delights in IBG Models' latest release
IBG Models’ Chevrolet C60S with Holmes Recovery Equipment (ref. 72032) is naturally based on IBG’s previous kits based on the 15cwt chassis, and the 142 parts for use are presented as on six sprues of very densely-packed, cleanly moulded grey plastic; there’s a whole secondary sprue containing the Type 11 cab which isn’t used, a Type 13 being more typical for this vehicle, and a number of other parts which will find their way into the spares box. Detail is excellent, and there’s no flash or sink marks. Two marking options are offered, both in plain Olive Drab:
-16th Light Aid Detachment, 4th Canadian Infantry Brigade, 2nd Canadian Infantry Division. England, 1942
-4th Canadian Armoured Brigade Workshop RCEME, 4th Canadian Armoured Division. Normandy 1944
There’s a small packet of fine thread to rig the lifting cables and the instructions are based on 3D-CAD manufacturing drawings, the sixteen stages helpfully showing the individual actions for each stage, plus a view of the final result of that stage, although the diagrams themselves are rather dark, and some location points are difficult to identify. Colour references are for Vallejo, Hataka, Lifecolor and AK Interactive paints, (although only black, olive drab and rust are referenced) there’s no information on detail painting. This is the first IBG kit I’ve seen, and I’m rather impressed.
