Ivan Momcilovic Momcha puts Trumpeter’s BTR-40 in a Vietnam setting.
The BTR-40 was a Soviet non-amphibious armoured personnel carrier and reconnaissance vehicle. Developed in early 1947 at the Design Bureau of Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod (GAZ), it was a successor to the BA-64B armoured car, production of which ceased a year earlier. Often referred to as ‘Sorokovka’, the BTR-40 was Russia’s first mass-produced APC. It was eventually replaced in the APC role by the BTR-152, and in the scout car role by the BRDM-1.
