Did you know that St. Benedict and St. Scholastica were brother and sister? The two shared a parallel destiny of serving God.
Our siblings are our first playmates—and maybe even enemies! It’s quite common for them to know all our youthful secrets, and while our parents shape our personalities, our brothers and sisters also play a significant role in shaping who we grow up to be. Some siblings pursue different paths, but there are also those whose destinies are linked by a common thread. In the case of twins St. Benedict and St. Scholastica, both lived a life that was inspired by prayer and love for God.
DOUBLE BLESSINGS
In the fifth century, high up on the mountains northeast of Rome, a wealthy Christian family welcomed twin babies. The two would later be known all over the world as St. Benedict and St. Scholastica. Though very little is known about their childhood years, it is believed that the two grew up very close and that they nurtured a special love for the faith.
