It’s rare, when making Open Country for Radio 4 that I get to “do a recce” but Stonehenge was an exception. I joined throngs of visitors, first at English Heritage’s brilliant exhibition, hopped on the shuttle bus, then walked the short distance to the roped-off perimeter of this 5,000 year old stone circle. Tourists from around the world took dozens of photos, recording their visit to this iconic monument.
