 It looks as though congratulations are in order for Bert and Patti Newton, as secret wedding rumours mount for their son Matthew.

The troubled actor and director is rumoured to have tied the knot with girlfriend Catherine ‘Cat’ Schneiderman in New York, with the 23-year-old model spotted wearing a new wedding band just last week.

While Cat – who’s the daughter of the New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman – has regularly been spotted wearing her solitaire engagement ring around the streets of Manhattan in recent months, this is the first time she’s been seen wearing a platinum band on her wedding finger.

Insiders tell New Idea that ‘no-one would be surprised’ if Matthew and Cat got married in secret, with the pair desperate to keep their relationship on the down-low.

‘It would make sense for them to be getting married soon, if they haven’t already,’ the source tells New Idea. ‘They’ve been engaged for more than a year now.
