THE SCIENTOLOGIST IS CELEBRATING A MAJOR MILESTONE

When Kirstie Alley unleashed a flurry of political pro-Donald Trump tweets back in October, she faced the ire of her liberal-leaning Hollywood peers. But the actress – who celebrates her milestone 70th birthday next week – didn’t shy away from criticism.

Instead, she defiantly doubled down on her support for the outgoing US president and his false claims that coronavirus is a media hoax.

Sources say that while Kirstie has “strong beliefs and marches to her own drum at the best of times”, she has had a tougher year than normal and friends are trying to cut her some slack.

“Kirstie’s been keen to get back into acting, but the roles have dried up,” explains a source. “So she was spending time with her son and grandchildren in her Florida home, reassessing her life, when disaster struck.

“Her dear dad, who lives in Kansas, fell really ill, so she drove halfway across the country in a pandemic – whether she believes in it or not, it was tough – to be as close to him as possible without actually being let into the hospital because of restrictions.

“It’s been very hard on her and she’s been lashing out on Twitter at basically everyone as a result.”
