A television insider tells New Idea that wheels are already in motion for his next American assignment, with Karl set to cover the upcoming US presidential elections.

“It looks like Karl will go to the US and base himself there for the election,” reveals the insider.

However, network executives won’t be letting Karl off the hook with his day job in order to follow his American dream.

Over the past few weeks, the breakfast show has finally managed a ratings win over its arch-rival, Channel Seven’s Sunrise.

Today trounced Sunrise in the East Coast capital cities. Channel Seven has now brought back Sunrise co-hosts Samantha Armytage and David Koch full-time. They were previously working a four-day week, with newsreader Natalie Barr filling in for them.
