Just over a week has passed since breakfast TV favourite Melissa Doyle unveiled her new crime docuseries, Australia Behind Bars, on Nine, but her former Sunrise co-star Samantha Armytage is managing to one-up her again!

In a shock twist, it’s been revealed that Sam, who sensationally quit her hosting gig on Sunrise in March after replacing Mel in 2013, has snapped up a new apartment in Sydney – signalling her inevitable return to television.

New Idea’s sources insist, after long-circulating rumours, Sam, who turns 45 this week, is all but confirmed to swoop in at Nine, with Today still in her sights.

It is an all-too-telling move from Sam, who sold her North Bondi apartment in July 2020. Mere months later, she gave an explosive interview claiming the television industry was full of “narcissists” and “sociopaths”. She then made her headline-making exit from Sunrise.
