THE MILLIONAIRE HAS BEEN DECLARED DEAD, BUT QUESTIONS REMAIN AROUND HER DISAPPEARANCE
MELISSA CADDICK: AUSTRALIA'S BIGGEST MYSTERY

The investigation to find wealthy Melissa Caddick has been blown apart – by a shoe.

A lone ASICS trainer was found by campers on the south coast of New South Wales. Inside the shoe were the remains of a human foot.

DNA technology has connected the foot to Caddick, through a toothbrush that her family supplied to police after she vanished in November.

Now, officers are trying to work out how it ended up 400 kilometres away from where she first disappeared.

“This case started out as a mystery and terrible loss for investors, and it’s turned into this multi-faceted inquiry that has links to the south coast,” former detective and true-crime author Duncan McNab tells New Idea.

Caddick was a self-styled financial adviser for her firm Maliver Pty Ltd. Unbeknown to her investors, the 49-year old was the subject of an investigation by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC).

She then mysteriously vanished from her home in Dover Heights, eastern Sydney, on November 12 – the day after ASIC executed a search warrant on her home.
