Over the years, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have watched on as their youngest son, Chester ‘Chet’, has faced a series of public scandals, including fathering a secret love child.

Now, Chet has once again sparked controversy, telling a US publication that despite his parents' wealth, he was the “richest broke kid” growing up.

“People assume I lived this super privileged life, Richy rich, and that just wasn’t the case,” he said. “It was actually the opposite. They never gave me an allowance.”
