Alex Melvin attends the official unveiling of Tingdene Homes’ state-of-the-art new production facility at its Northamptonshire base and likes what he sees…
Hundreds of visitors flocked to Tingdene Homes’ Visitor Centre in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, for the grand opening of the manufacturer’s new production facility on 6 and 7 October. The state-of-the art factory extension piqued the interest of both the industry’s great and the good and the home buying public.
PH&HC attended the impressive launch on the trade day, along with more than 150 industry representatives, enjoying an in-depth tour of the new plant and a buffet lunch. Tingdene’s all-new Barnwell was also then launched to the general public, amid much fanfare, the next day.
Stunning effect
Tingdene’s factory, which is 40 years old, has been radically overhauled to stunning effect. It is now a state-of-the-art, purpose built production space with a raft of new store facilities and extra office space. A more streamlined and practical working environment will also ensure production is more efficient and safer for its workforce.
Sylvia Gibbard, the wife of the late Tingdene Homes’ chairman Jim Gibbard, was invited to cut the ribbon and declare the premises officially open. Sylvia was clearly touched to be asked to carry out this honour many years after her husband’s death.
Tingdene Homes’ sales and marketing director Nick Burgess opened proceedings by giving a short talk on the company’s history, factory, workforce and ambitions for the future.
