According to author Emmanuel Breguet, the second edition of the tome on this Swiss luxury brand holds more information and images that underscore its rich history
If he were alive today, Abraham-Louis Breguet would be extremely proud of his descendant Emmanuel Breguet. The younger Breguet, a historian, takes his role as keeper of the watch brand’s heritage with so much passion and pride. He made his way to Manila as part of a tour to promote the second edition of his book Breguet, Watchmakers since 1775: The Life and Legacy of Abrahan-Louis Breguet (1747-1823).
Emmanuel wrote the first book in 1997, but he speaks of this second one with as much enthusiasm: “When I wrote the first edition 20 years ago, the situation was not the same in the Swiss watchmaking industry.” He is referring to the acquisition of Breguet by the Swatch Group headed by Nicolas G Hayek in 1999. To underscore the importance of this development, he dedicated an entire chapter to Hayek, who headed the brand for a decade after the acquisition.
