Lulling yourself to sleep doesn’t have to be a chore. Follow these tips to get rid of those tosses and turns
Children hate sleep, especially the more active ones, even if it comes easy to them. Adults, on the other hand, yearn for some shuteye, which has become more difficult to come by because of their fast-paced lives and and the stress that this brings. A good uninterrupted sleep allows the body to rejuvenate itself by releasing hormones that improve growth and appetite, repair and relax muscles, consolidate memories, and restore energy. Having difficulty falling asleep? Here are some tips to help you get that deep slumber you’ve been aiming for.
PULL THE PLUG
Unless you’re really tired and ready to drop, you can’t just close your eyes and expect to be able to sleep right away. Sleep experts advise to ease yourself into a calm state of mind by refraining from activities that are physically and mentally stimulating. Due to time constraints, most people prefer to exercise at night, which increases body temperature. Sticking to a fitness routine is great, but make sure to finish at least four hours before you hit the sack to give your body ample time to cool down, which will incite drowsiness. Another advice they give is to refrain from reading a thriller, texting, and browsing the internet— taking your mind away from sleep.
