While splurging on the face is quite the norm, a relaxed body – and mind – can help ease stress, so show yours some TLC too
INDULGE AND INVIGORATE
WHAT: Signature Spa Journey (150 minutes; $390)
WHERE: Spa by JW, Level 2 JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach
Spa by JW aims to take your load off, whether you are fatigued from a long journey or have been chasing deals without respite. Its carefully tailored treatments fall into the themes of Calm, Indulge, Invigorate and Renew. I was offered a cup of hot ginger tea while I filled out a form to provide succinct details on my physical condition, requirements and preferences.
My spa journey began with a 60-minute scrub and wrap, made from locally harvested herbs and ingredients. I liked it as it felt just right – not too rough like a salt scrub, nor too soft and thus ineffective like an oat scrub, but with just the right texture to gently slough off dead cells. From past spa experiences, I had come to expect scrubs to be messy business, but there was none of that here. I was wrapped in a special cocoon over a heated blanket rather than an icky plastic film. It’s also good to know that I haven’t contributed to more plastic pollution in my pursuit of wellness. After marinating in the cocoon for some 20 minutes, I showered off the gunk to discover that my skin felt really silky smooth and soft.
