Fake news is deceptions, opinions, stories, scams, or rumors created, usually by journalists aligned to political parties, to look like legitimate news stories. They are designed in a way to deliberately mislead and deceive. Traditionally, people have trusted what is written in newspapers, magazines, and current affairs sites. But nowadays that is no longer true. This is because news journalists have become extremely biased, polarized, and corrupt. Many of them are not even true journalists as they will be political stooges masquerading as honest journalists. In short, political parties use such journalists to peddle their agenda, defame their opposition, create fear and panic, and so on to win elections.
Mainstream media outlets are bound by ethical standards for journalists. This means they have to be truthful, cite their sources, not make up news or unsaid comments, and so on in their articles or TV shows. There are also legal processes in place to hold them accountable. But with the internet, anyone can start a news and current affairs portal and start creating news without any ethical guidelines. The main aim of such portals is to get subscribers using sensational headlines, clickbait articles, fake news, lies, spread fear, etc. Secondly, dozens of websites or echo chambers can be created by a political party to fool the public. And with the information overload nowadays it is very easy to get deceived when many websites report almost identical content.
