With over 500 honours under its belt, Singapore Changi Airport is the most awarded air hub in the world and serves more than 100 airlines flying to 380 cities in over 90 countries worldwide.
Since its opening in July 1981, the Singapore Changi Airport, known simply as Changi Airport, has made its mark in the aviation industry. In 2016, it handled over 58 million passengers, the most in its 35-year history, making it the sixth busiest airport in the world and the second busiest in Asia by international passenger traffic.
Apart from being an important global passenger hub, the airport, operated by the Changi Airport Group, is not just one of the largest transportation hubs in Southeast Asia, but is also one of the world’s busiest cargo airports, handling 1.97 million tonnes of cargo last year.
Beautiful flower gardens, business centres, movie theatres, swimming pools with jacuzzis and even a slide ride— Changi Airport has got it all covered to make it one of your most memorable and extraordinary visits to an airport! Being comparatively older than its regional rivals, Changi Airport makes sure to include frequent physical upgrades and continual addition of new facilities to its existing terminals in order to alleviate the effects of ageing infrastructure. A home base to Singapore Airlines, SilkAir, Scoot, Tigerair, Jetstar Asia Airways and BOC Aviation, Changi Airport manages to handle arrival and departure of about 7,000 flights every week.
