Hidesign’s origin lies in an ecological rebellion against synthetics and chemical tanning.
Ecology and sustainability are core values of Hidesign. It has been well over 15 years that the brand gave up plastic packaging in spite of hauls of protest from its buyers at that time. Its atelier built-in 1990 is a wide-open brick building, nestled amidst lush green gardens, ponds and waterfalls. Solar panels take care of almost all our power consumption, with additional feedback to Pondicherry’s grid. In other words, the ‘Art of Reuse’ has been a cherished value for us, shares Dilip Kapur, its Founder, with S&A during an interaction.
Hidesign has recently opened several retail points all over India. How many retail points does the brand have in India now?
With the opening up of airports for retail, the focus has clearly been on airport stores over the past year and Hidesign has opened almost 20 new stores and at the present has 94 EBO and 112 large format department store retail points. Hidesign also sells through its own website and all major E-commerce partners.
