Smartron has been in the smartphone business for a few years now but when you compare their lineup with its competitors, it&rsquo;s pretty lean. It&rsquo;s their third smartphone and instead of&nbsp;targeting the lower-end of the mid-range market that Smartron targeted all these years, they&rsquo;re going where the most action is - the sub-10k segment. But is it good enough to threaten Xiaomi&rsquo;s dominance in the segment? Let&rsquo;s find out.As odd as the name might sound, the t.phone P checks all the boxes when it comes to getting the right design and hardware mix. The metal body at the back gives the phone a premium look and feel along with a 2.5D glass on the front. Overall, we wouldn&rsquo;t say the design as revolutionary but is certainly good for a phone in this price range.When it comes to performance, the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor and 3GB RAM and during our use, we found it good enough for everyday use. It&rsquo;s not blazingly fast but fast enough to use the device for email, web surfing, videos, social media, etc. The t.phone P has a 5.2-inch HD (720p) IPS display that offers decent viewing angles and legibility under direct sunlight. The fingerprint scanner works well.Camera-wise, the phone features a 13MP camera at the back and 5MP camera on the front and let&rsquo;s just say, t.phone P&rsquo;s camera is not its strongest suit. However, Smartron has added few enhancements to the camera app like beautify mode, wide selfie, multi-exposure and even a front-facing flash for selfies.Speaking of the strongest suit, the t.phone P has a 5000mAh battery and in our test, we managed to get up to 2 days of use, which can easily go over two days if one uses sparingly. There&rsquo;s also OTG Reverse Charge support that allows charging other USB devices with the right cable. In terms of charging, it took us about 2.5-3 hours for a full juice up to 100 percent.The phone runs on Smartron&rsquo;s tronX platform based on Android 7 Nougat. While the overall experience is similar to stock Android, the phone comes with pre-loaded apps like t.cloud (gives 1000GB of cloud storage for free), t.care and t. store.The t.phone P&rsquo;s camera could have been better but the optimised performance of the phone makes up for it along with the humongous two-day battery.
