Growing up in Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean had a massive impact on Lia Nicholson’s decision to devote her life to climate action. At age six, she witnessed a Category 5 hurricane rip through her home town and lived through the effects of the devastation. “I remember the neighbour’s roof was in our yard, and we had no power for three months and had to collect and ration rainwater. Growing up with that awareness, I’ve always been driven by an understanding of what’s at stake from a very personal level, and how that risk profile is changing over time, but also getting excited about the solutions,” says Nicholson.
Last December, she moved from New York to Singapore to undertake the role of head of sustainability at Terrascope, an enterprise‑grade, end‑to‑end decarbonisation software‑as‑a‑service platform that combines data science, machine learning and sustainability expertise to help large companies measure and manage their carbon emissions by decarbonising business operations and supply chains.
