I was having a renal biopsy as my kidney function had been falling for years.
I’d also been feeling tired, and getting pains and dizzy spells. As the biopsy needle touched my kidney my head began pounding and I felt nauseous.
‘I think I’m going to vomit,’ I cried.
The next thing I knew I was surrounded by nurses.
‘Her blood pressure’s just 80/47,’ one said anxiously.
‘That can’t be right, the machine must be faulty,’ said the doctor.
But a second machine gave the same reading.
My blood pressure was dropping like a stone.
I’m dying, I realised.
I felt liquid being pumped into a vein and then I felt so cold I began shaking uncontrollably. Suddenly, I saw a light above me.
