Find out how Australian actress Rose Byrne hilariously tackles instant parenthood in her latest comedy movie.
Kids look up to adults for guidance, protection and love. However, not every child is fortunate enough to be given the time, energy and care by someone who loves them. Abandoned by their family or overcome with a tragedy, many kids are forced into foster care where they often stay until they become of legal age.
In Paramount Pictures’ new movie, Instant Family, actress Rose Byrne, together with Mark Wahlberg, sheds light on the power of adoption, the struggles of being instant parents and the hilarity of learning from your failures. Inspired by the real events from the life of writer and director Sean Anders, the movie is an authentic story that celebrates the notion that family can come from anywhere and anyone.
When Pete (Mark Wahlberg) and Ellie (Rose Byrne) decide to start a family, they stumble into the world of foster care adoption. They were hoping to take in one child, but when they meet three siblings, including a rebellious 15-year-old girl (Isabela Moner), they find themselves speeding from zero to three kids overnight. Now, Pete and Ellie must try to learn the ropes of instant parenthood in the hopes of becoming a family.
After a career of action films, witty comedies and gritty indies, the 39-year-old Australian native is ever charming in this heartwarming tale. According to Rose, it was Sean’s personal experience with adoption that drew her to the role.
“To be honest, I don’t know if I would have done it if it had not been semi-autobiographical. That is because it gives an authenticity, sensitivity and intimacy. This is such a sensitive subject and you want to be able to tell it in an authentic way. Having Sean at the helm was very important.
