Being a mother, host, and an award-winning actress, Elaine Daly could be forgiven for resting on her laurels. But as she tells The Weekly – she’s only just getting started.
In person, Elaine Daly is funny, smart, and engaging; everything you might expect her to be. But it hasn’t all fallen into her lap – she has worked hard for it. Elaine started modeling at the tender age of 14 and then moved into acting in theatre productions and movies. After winning the Miss Universe Malaysia crown in 2003, she qualified as a lawyer.
Elaine is now National Director of Miss Universe Malaysia and busy running hurr.tv, an online interactive lifestyle channel she launched recently. So she’s as busy as any working woman. She explains: “We just crowned this year’s Miss Universe Malaysia and working on different productions for hurr.tv.”
“My day starts at 6am. I try to squeeze in a quick run or workout, meetings, events, errands, paperwork, caring for my family – and then do it all over again the next day!”
The Weekly talks to her to find out how she juggles life as a modern-day superwoman.
Tell us a little bit about what you are doing these days.
A few years ago, I was a mentor for Carey Ng at the Miss Universe pageant in Moscow but I wasn’t fully involved in the pageant at that time. Then I got married, had a baby and put a lot of things on hold for a while. At the beginning of last year, I was asked to take on the Miss Universe Malaysia pageant and also an online TV channel, now known as hurr.tv. With the pageant, I’m just loving it. I enjoy mentoring; the whole process of transforming an individual, changing their life.
