Taking Centre Stage

Talented, Deepti Sadhwani converses with Amaira Chhabria about what it takes to be an emcee, actor, and entrepreneur.

For a very long time, emceeing was considered to be a side hustle by many in the entertainment industry. That said, with the changing tides have come a new crop of emcees’s who have not only professionalised the trade, but are also spicing it up with their unique personalities. Among them is Mumbai based Deepti Sadhwani who is now completing her 11th year in this space and has to date hosted over a 1000 shows nationally and internationally. Known for her persistence and liveliness, she has received umpteen praises for her oratory skills, and her presence at any show lifts the energy to a whole new level.

Despite that, Deepti is grounded and pragmatic. Her love for being on stage began way back in her hometown, Lucknow, where she would host shows in her spare time while studying at La Martiniere’s Girls College. “I’m most comfortable while on stage. In fact, I love having the spotlight on me and stage fright is something I don’t relate to,” she shares. She continued taking on gigs even while pursuing an MBA in Finance from the Jaipuria Institute of Management.
