Travelling the World, Exploring New Countries, and Bringing Home Beautiful Pieces From Global Cultures, Globetrotting Store-owner Lisa Storer Shares Her Love for the Extraordinary and Exotic
For 15 years I ran my own business supplying large retailers, but two years ago I grew dissatisfied with mass production and consumerism, so I decided to restructure my existing business into a smaller company that works with artisans around the world. I was eager to explore my interest in artisanal studios, and in an effort to collect the best quality and exclusive items for the shop, I began travelling around the world sourcing exquisite pieces, from clothing, vintage Bohemian rugs, and Moroccan throws to handblown carafes and palm straw poufs.
This new venture set my heart alight. I’ve met the most amazing people around the world who have taught me so much about how to slow my life down, and appreciate and value beautiful things and traditions. In addition to our online store, we recently opened a brick and mortar shop at 44 Stanley in Milpark, where people can have a tangible experience of the beautiful and unique items in store. The Storer is more than just a retail shop, it’s a story book, not only about these artisans and their products, but the story of imagination expressed through beauty and community.
