He found global fame on the smash TV hit, Glee, has performed in countless shows on Broadway and now he’s one of the mentors on the BBC’s new Saturday night entertainment series, The Greatest Dancer. But all that pales into insignificance for Matthew Morrison compared to becoming a first-time dad.

Glowing whenever he talks about his one-year-old, Revel James Makai, the 40-year-old actor, singer and dancer says his life has been turned upside down by the little one – for the better.

“Every day I wake up and smile,” he confides. “And every day I treat as a new experience. I absolutely love being a father and my priorities have definitely changed. I don’t want to be away!

“I want to be a great father. I want to change what the modern father looks like. I feel like we live in this world where men are more active than ever before in the raising of children. I took a lot of time off at the start and now I feel like I am in an amazing position where I am being creative, but I am with my family (a lot).”

Both Matthew’s wife, Renee, and son came over from the States, where they live, to the UK when he filmed the opening episodes of Simon Cowell’s first ever production for the BBC – The Greatest Dancer. And they will come again when the live shows start. “Anything longer than a week and they come with me,” he says.
