The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh chats to Yours about quiz magic.
There’s no doubting that Bradley Walsh is a man of many talents. He’s a former professional footballer who’s now a comedian and award-winning actor, TV presenter and platinum-selling recording artist. But it is as host of ITV’s phenomenally successful teatime quiz show The Chase that he’s best known – and best loved. Odds are that The Chase would be popular with any well-known personality as host, but with Bradley at the helm, it’s a smash hit – and recently voted the Best British TV Quiz Show of all time.
“There are a few reasons it’s such a success,” Bradley tells us. “The format is exceptional, for a start. As the host, I’m in the unique position of being very much on the contestants’ side. I’m like another member of the team. I tell the contestants to take the mickey out of me as much as they like – I want them to feel as comfortable as possible. I’m holding their hand the whole way through. Some of the answers the contestants come out with on my shows are fantastic – if you can josh them along without ridiculing them then you’ve cracked it.
