Senior Dermatologist Dr. Deepali Bhardwaj chalks out simple homegrown beauty regimens for all skin types
If you want healthy and flawless skin, it is important to know your skin type. This helps you choose products that are best suited for your skin type, as well as to customise a skincare programme.
The main skin types are normal or combination, sensitive, tanned, dry and oilyacne prone. There are several simple methods to determine your skin type, the most effective being the ‘tissue test’. When you wake up in the morning, place a tissue on your face and gently press it with your palm, on the different areas of your face, especially the T-zone, which includes your forehead and nose. Lift the tissue off your face after 10 seconds and check if any oil has rubbed off on it. If the tissue reveals oil from the forehead and nose, you probably have normal/combination skin. If it is saturated with oil, then you most likely have oily skin. And if the tissue has picked up no oil, you have dry skin.
