enlighten india: You’re a phenomenal actor, and have impressed the Indian audience with your amazing acting skills, and your undeniable charm. How did it all start?

Ruma Sharma: My journey started when I was just 5 years old, my mother literally pushed me for acting so I started as a child artist in Delhi. I did my first show at Shri Ram Center Auditorium in Delhi. One of the directors in VIP picked me for Star Gold’s Kuch Yaadein Kuch Baatein where I played the childhood role of veteran actor Kalpna Iyer. Later, I did an acting course from NSD. Then, did another show for DD1 with Om Puri Ji and a few brands ads. After finishing schooling, I shifted to Mumbai but the credit for getting into this industry goes to my mother and shifting Mumbai leaving my hometown and coming to a city where you have to start everything from zero. That was not that easy especially when a city is new and you don’t know anyone. Initial days in Mumbai was really struggling but I always believed that “hard work always pays off.” In Mumbai, my first show was MTV’s Kaisi Hai Yaariyan, my character Ridhima got so much fame then I also started doing Modelling. My pictures started getting viral on social media, I started getting projects through my social media especially, my Instagram profile really played an important role in my success till now. Most of the brands and work connections come through social media only so it really helped me out to get some good projects like web series, music videos and films.
