Newly elected SLGA President and Sentosa Lady Captain Lyn Sen has the ability to juggle her golf commitments with the family business and still maintain an impressive handicap.
Golf has played a pivotal role in Lyn Sen’s life since she took up the game a number of years ago. Not only was she good enough to represent Singapore in the national golf team, she met her husband, Dr Jiten Sen, at Singapore Island Country Club (SICC). “We used to have very competitive social rounds. The day that he couldn’t bring himself to beat me was when he realised he had fallen for me,” remembers Lyn with a laugh.
The now 8.3-handicapper still finds the time to enjoy playing twice a week if she’s not travelling, which includes a Sunday game with her husband. And her most memorable game also involved him back in May 2004. They had celebrated his 40th birthday and returned home at 4.30am – the next day Lyn was teeing off at 7.30am in an important golf game. “My husband was on my bag and I was playing in a bid to be the first lady to beat Kee Bee Khim (unbeaten for 20+ years) in the SICC Ladies Club Championships. I didn’t know how we managed to walk the 18 holes of the SICC Bukit Course, but we hung on for a historic two-shot victory.”
